TCRC Strike Preparations & Shipping Impacts

TCRC Strike Preparations & Shipping Impacts

We are fully committed to keeping you informed and helping you prepare for any potential service disruptions related to the TCRC strike. On August 9th, the CIRB announced that no railway services will need to be maintained during a strike or lockout to protect Canadian public health and safety. Additionally, a 13-day cooling-off period has been mandated, so if a settlement isn’t reached, the earliest a strike could begin is Thursday, August 22nd, 2024.

Impact on Your Shipments:

Shipping with CPKC:
As of 23:59 local time today, Wednesday, August 14th, 2024, CPKC will cease accepting any intermodal loaded containers classified as dangerous goods (across all class codes) for both domestic and international traffic at inland terminals. This policy applies to shipments destined for Canada or originating from any Canadian port or customer location.

Shipping with CN:
Effective August 15, CN will enforce an embargo on all temperature-controlled intermodal traffic across their network. The exact timing will depend on the origin and destination. Additionally, CN will place an embargo on all intermodal traffic destined for any point in Canada from U.S. origins or U.S. interchange, effective August 16. The complete embargo schedule is available at www.cn.ca/tcrcinfo.

We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. If you have any questions, need clarification, or require alternative options, please don’t hesitate to contact our customer service team.
